THE BANGKOK FIVE CONFIRMED FOR
MAY TOUR WITH BOBAFLEX; FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 28, 2008 HOOVES FOOTWEAR TO STREET JUNE 1…LAUNCH PARTY ON MAY 24!!! Producer extraordinaire Nick Raskulinecz (Death Angel, Trivium, Marilyn Manson, Danzig) has started a new shoe company called HOOVES FOOTWEAR. HOOVES FOOTWEAR has partnered with Gravis Footwear to design to create a premium, limited-edition, core Metal shoe. HOOVES’ first signature shoe, THE BEAST, is limited edition and will be released on June 1. The goal of HOOVES FOOTWEAR is to supply bands and other metalheads with a new shoe that fits the lifestyle, and to promote the metal scene and metal music as a whole. “We wanted to create a show that fit the metal lifestyle,” says Raskulinecz. “We’ve always had to borrow from others when it came to comfortable sneakers. It just wasn’t right. Back in the 80’s it was the black & red Air Jordans. Then there were the Pumas, the Vans, the Converse – I mean, we rocked them, and these brands are all great in their own ways, but nothing had the total package, nothing screamed metal!” THE BEAST is a black leather, bad ass high top that embodies the dark, evil nature of the metal lifestyle to its core. With a deep red pentagram lining, a skeletal blood stained insole and the HOOVES mantra embroidered on the tongue tag, these shoes personify metal.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DROPKICK MURPHYS ACHIEVE GOLD STATUS FOR “I’M SHIPPING UP TO BOSTON” SINGLE;
LIMITED EDITION DELUXE VERSION OF ‘THE MEANEST OF TIMES’ CD OUT NOW
DROPKICK
MURPHYS
recently played their annual string of sold-out headlining St. Patrick’s Day
shows in Boston before heading overseas for a European trek with multiple
sold-out shows, and now the band has even more to celebrate. The group’s single
"I'm Shipping Up To Boston” has been certified gold by the RIAA with sales of
over 500,000 copies. “I’m Shipping Up To Boston”--from 2005’s The Warrior’s
Code CD which has sold over 250,000 copies--gained mainstream notoriety
after being prominently featured in Martin Scorsese's film The Departed.
It can be commonly heard as a theme song for many sports teams (even outside of
Boston), was featured on a recent episode of “The Simpsons” and was the title
track for Discovery
Channel series “Lobster Wars” in 2007. The song has
also remained in the Top 20 on iTunes “Ringtones” chart for the majority of the
past 18 months. In other news, DROPKICK MURPHYS released a deluxe limited edition of their current CD THE MEANEST OF TIMES (Born & Bred Records/ILG) on March 11 as a special treat for fans just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE STREET DOGS IN A STATE OF GRACE ON NEW ALBUM Boston’s Revered Punk Band Will Release New Album On July 8th Hellcat Records’ newest signing, the highly revered Street Dogs, will release their new studio album, State of Grace, on July 8th. Teeming with fist pumping punk-influenced rock, the group’s fourth full length speaks from and to the working class with poetic heartfelt tales of family, hardships and cries for unity. The Street Dogs’ ability to craft unique, thought provoking music has helped the band amass a dedicated following over the years. Having served in the Gulf War and as a Boston firefighter, singer Mike McColgan draws on a wealth of life experiences and observations to inspire his impassioned vocal performances, adding a touch of sincere urgency to the non-stop fist-a-cuffs of teeth-gnashing rock that the band is known for. Produced by Ted Hutt (Bouncing Souls, Flogging Molly), the group’s latest release surpasses their earlier recordings, both lyrically and musically, with new energy and awareness. McColgan kicks off State of Grace with the consequential story of “Mean Fist,” which sets an intense tone for the album when combined with the vigorous punk riffs and beats of Paul Rucker (drums), Johnny Rioux (bass), Marcus Hollar (guitar) and Tobe Bean III (guitar). Rolling almost seamlessly from song to song, the Street Dogs maintain a high level of energy throughout the record with tracks like the politically charged Skids’ cover “Into The Valley,” and the fist-pumping call for change “Rebel Song.” The Street Dogs give a nod to family throughout the album with songs like “Kevin J. O’Toole,” an ode to McColgan’s uncle and fellow Boston firefighter who recently passed away, and the Irish folk-inspired track “Elizabeth,” about McColgan’s grandmother who was the matriarch of the family. Their reverence for family, friends, and those who fight on our behalf can be felt throughout the album, especially on the band’s homage to Joe Strummer, “The General’s Boombox,” who they cite as their main influence. “This is a more organic record,” says Rioux. “It's more raw than our previous records. The end result is a more powerful and honest record. It's less political and more everyday life delivered in a more powerful way.” No strangers to crowd participation at their shows, State of Grace boasts a plethora of tracks that are made for the pub and pit, like the bouncing rhythms of “Two Angry Kids” that will have the crowd churning in no time. The album closes with “Free,” one of the most personal songs McColgan has ever written. Opening with the somber cries of a harmonica and acoustic guitar, the Street Dogs show the raw emotion of coming to terms with the struggles of life and looking for hope in a sometimes bleak world. Street Dogs are currently wrapping up a tour with Anti-Flag and will be previewing the new album for fans in June when they play the main stage at this year’s Vans Warped Tour.

The acclaimed hard rock group are renowned worldwide for their cathartic and frenzied live performances, as underlined by SURVIVE, KALEIDOSCOPE. Revolver magazine has noted that "Underoath have become one of the most punishing metalcore powerhouses around and--in the pouring rain--they delivered an astonishingly brutal set that proved them worthy of the buzz surrounding them." Metro Times (Detroit, MI) weighed in by saying, "While Define the Great Line added melody and dynamics without sacrificing the intensity of the sextet's metal-hardcore hybrid, nothing, compares to the band's writhing live performances." Elsewhere, as noted in the Providence Journal, "Underoath were the headliners; with punishing bass and drums, crunching guitar and a horror-movie tinge to singer Spencer Chamberlain's delivery that all give the religious themes of the lyrics universal appeal." Creative Loafing (Atlanta, GA) summed it up in one word: "incendiary." Indianapolis, IN Verizon Wireless Music Center FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE EPITAPH SIGNS ALT/ROCK HEAVYWEIGHTS STORY OF THE YEAR Band Enters Studio with John Feldmann and Elvis Baskette, Epitaph Debut Scheduled for Spring 2008 St. Louis-bred five piece Story of the Year have signed with Los Angeles-based stalwart Epitaph in what is perhaps the perfect marriage of like-minded individuals. The deal partners one of the world’s largest independent record companies, which advocates creative freedom for its recording artists, with a band known, in spite of their superstar status, for a tireless do-it-yourself work ethic and willingness to take risks and push boundaries musically. “From my first time seeing Story of the Year light up the stage of the tiny Troubadour club like a torch, to soon thereafter seeing them light up every TV screen across America, I always regretted that I hadn’t come across them just a little sooner and perhaps have had the chance to sign them,” says Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz. “All I can say is I’m finally redeemed! This is a very big deal for Epitaph.” Story of the Year have two previous studio releases, 2003’s Page Avenue produced by John Feldman (the Used, My Chemical Romance, Atreyu) and 2005’s In the Wake of Determination produced by Steve Evetts (Saves the Day, Senses Fail). Fueled in part by huge hit singles such as the enduringly infectious “Until the Day I Die,” combined sales of the two records number well into the millions worldwide, with gold and platinum records in the US, Japan, Canada and Australia. "Brett Gurewitz and his team understand the music landscape in 2007,” says John Reese, the band’s manager. “While major labels are on the panic trail, Epitaph is coming up with great new ideas to help artists reach their fans and make new ones as well. We are excited to release Story of The Year's music with the support of Brett and his team." Story of the Year’s Epitaph debut will be further highlighted by a reunion of sorts, as original partner-in-crime/producer John Feldmann returns to the helm on a number of songs. In addition, the band will spend time with Elvis Baskette (Chevelle, Escape the Fate), completing the record on the Virginian coast. Known for their kinetic live shows and ridiculously catchy songs, Story of the Year have always been famously ballsy in their mixing of glossy production, big rock hooks and honeyed melodies with searing metal riffs and intense screaming. The band has garnered a passionate and loyal following, thanks in large part to lead singer Dan Marsala’s signature vocal style and heartfelt lyrics. Story of the Year have toured extensively, headlining massive festival tours such as the Vans Warped Tour and Taste of Chaos, and holding their own indoors with other rock heavyweights such as My Chemical Romance, the Used and Linkin Park. The wait is over. Story of the Year’s highly anticipated Epitaph debut is scheduled for spring 2008. Expect exhaustive touring in support of their new record.
Story of the Year are: Ryan Phillips – guitar Philip Sneed – guitar Adam Russell – bass Josh Wills - drums
