Wine and Alchemy
Arizona Renaissance Festival
By Sally A. Schwartz

Wine And Alchemy hails from both Oklahoma and Texas. They have played all over the United States and I was able to catch up with them here in Arizona. To my luck, I had been able to obtain a copy of their music for a complete review, as well as their live performance. The band members are Mark Varelas, Roxanne Bruscha, Neil Yamin and Jake Cooper. They have various Guest Musicians to play the Violin/Fiddle.

Their music is a cultural center of countries such as Greece, Egypt, France and a few others, which truly makes their music world enriched. The voice of Roxanne is rich and deep. When able to watch the band, her dancing mesmerizes you, as the music is played with much passion. To listen to the music via CD as well in seeing the band perform live, certainly graces their audience with their love of World music. They have proven that instruments such as the Sitar, and Harmonium can truly rock the house, and that "the Accordion is not just for Polka’s anymore." They can rock the house with "Kashmir" as well as lure you in with "Marco Polo."

Although you may be lucky enough to see them at a Renaissance Festival, they also have many local gigs where you may catch their performance. So check out their website:

You will not be disappointed. This band is full of love for their music and passion to play it and they joy to bring it to you.
