Halestorm
Wasted Space at the Hard Rock Hotel

Once in awhile you come across a band that
pumps new life & purpose into the realm of music…
Someone mentioned the band Halestorm was
playing at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. Since I wasn’t familiar with them,
I began my usual research-- listening to their music, investigating their
background, checking tour dates, etc. Halestorm is currently on tour
promoting their self-titled, 2009 release and, after listening to some of
their songs, I can honestly say I’m a fan. Obviously, my next step was to
see them perform live.
I showed up at Wasted Space expecting to
find a few people lingering inside. Needless to say, I was amazed by how
many people were there, it was a packed house! Getting close to the stage
was a struggle and no one wanted to move. With great effort, I made it to
the stage area just as the band appeared. My description of lead vocalist
Lizzy’s voice would be Janis Joplin soul meets church choir grace, and her
talents with the guitar only add to her on-stage charisma. The other band
members, Josh, Joe & Arejay, were nothing short of amazing.
As if their combined musical talents and
songs weren’t enough, there were stage antics to provide half-time
intermission entertainment, like a giant drum stick similar to the one
used in a Cheech & Chong movie to beat on garbage cans with drum heads,
much like the popular Las Vegas show “Stomp.” The band as a whole
embodies enormous energy, talent, and entertainment. I’m no fortune
teller, but I predict Halestorm will achieve the success they strive for,
along with a huge fan base… including me.
