NAMM, the National Association of Music
Merchants (NAMM), commonly called NAMM in reference to the
organization's popular NAMM trade shows, is the not-for-profit
association that promotes the pleasures and benefits of making
music. NAMM is one of the most popular trade shows in the
world. Every winter, music dealers, vendors, buyers, musicians,
press and more spend four days in a musical instrument candy
store, better known as the Anaheim Convention Center.
attending NAMM for the first time it can be overwhelming.
Each year DaBelly is blessed with the
opportunity to walk through approximately 6 football fields of the
coolest music gear. There are hundreds of thousands
of square feet of floor space stuffed with every imaginable type
of musical instrument and equipment to manufacture musical
instruments. If you want it you will find it at NAMM.
For product manufacturers and distributors
and service providers, the event provides a venue to network, tout
their wares and check out the competition. For retailers, it is a
place to find what they may want to stock in their stores, as well
as a attend educational seminars that can help them with their
businesses. For musicians, it is a playground full of the latest
gear, a spot to show off their talent and a chance to connect with
a few of their fans without stress. For journalists, it's four
days of hard work, enjoyable work, but nonetheless hard.
As usual DaBelly had a full crew on hand
to cover this mega event. We have text and video reports
from our editor Naughty Mickie, staff writer Sara Lambeth, staff
photo/journalist Sally Schwartz, our publisher Dave Schwartz and
two correspondents - Jules Beuck and Dean Lee.
We focused on the business side of music this year. We looked for
some intriguing and innovative products to share with you.
We think we found them.
